The aesthetic, atmosphere, concept and menu of enid grace cafe was conceived a few short years ago. While living abroad and travelling, I regularly enjoy the rural cafes in Italy and France. Every morning I would walk through the village to the cafe for morning espresso and some quality time with the owners, their staff and the eclectic group of those, who like me, came to catch up on local news and gossip, discuss the merits of good food, debate whose marinara sauce was better, plan for the upcoming harvest season and inevitably discuss each others plans for the day. Depending on the morning hour I arrived, I could chat with village elders (really early), farmers (really really early), school children and teenagers (always entertaining) as well as the business set in their designer shoes just popping in for a quick shot and a sweet en route to the larger city centre.
These cafes were for the whole community and anyone that happened to find themselves wandering in the community. They were very small, limited seating, but quaint and endearing. An emphasis on comfort and quality of food and coffee was clear. I, like most of the locals, looked forward to the rhythm and routine of the cafe. Everyone was welcome and felt welcome.
The menu was simple and approachable but details were appreciated in the execution and arrangement of the food. Flavours were often seasonal and portions were just the right amount. These cafes were places you could simply grab your coffee and go or sit down and take time. Meet with friends, have a meeting or just steal some time to yourself. I met many wonderful people in these spaces, many of whom remain close friends. My cafe offers the same model that these cafes provided but with the needs of my community here at home in mind. Myself and my team are happy to see every face come through the door, whether new or well known.
enid grace cafe is petite, but is bright and charming on the inside and focused on comfort and the enjoyment of the menu. Seasonally, you can enjoy our menu outside on our street side terrace; a beautiful al fresco experience in the heart of Wellington. The views and waves of Lake Ontario just mere steps away, perfect for a post meal stroll. The cafe is a great starting point to grab a bite before walking the main street for local shops, galleries and the seasonal farmers market.
The cafe offers a small retail section where you can take home a selection of the incredible ingredients that i cook and bake with, the tools I love and use everyday as well as our coffee and tea. We have a beautiful selection of authentic handmade french market bags as well as our own swag including t-shirts, aprons and grocery totes.
We encourage you to make enid grace cafe your own. The aesthetic reflects my personality but is truly a tribute to the look and feel of my favourite cafes in Europe. I hope you enjoy our space as much as my friends and neighbors in Italy and France enjoyed theirs.
Welcome. We look forward to seeing and serving you.
